We’re Hiring – National Communications Manager

The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards (NZDIA) are seeking an experienced, proactive, and passionate communicator to take the lead in telling our story. After nine years of dedicated service, our current National Communications Manager is stepping down, creating an exciting opportunity for a skilled agri-communicator to join our team.

This is a contract role with flexible, part-time hours (approx. 0.3 FTE), ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic and seasonal environment. While the role is remote, it does require some travel, including attendance at our Annual Conference in September and the prestigious National Awards Dinner in May.

You’ll be responsible for delivering our national and regional communications strategy, celebrating dairy excellence, and elevating the profile of one of the most respected programmes in the primary sector.

Key Attributes We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in journalism, communications, PR, or marketing (agri-sector preferred)

  • Strong writing, storytelling and content creation abilities

  • Proven experience managing media relations and social media platforms

  • Ability to develop and deliver an annual communications and social media strategy

  • A passion for agriculture and strong connections within the rural sector

You’ll work with a passionate nationwide team, engaging media and stakeholders, and delivering high-impact content across traditional and digital channels. Peak workload times are from January to May.
